i'm gonna answer a very common question that i get not only from my students but also from my friends my family and pretty much everybody that knows that i'm a hacker is hacking legal let's go before we get into this please note that laws differ depending on the country but what i'm gonna say applies for pretty much all countries as far as i know and definitely applies in europe and in the united states so question is is hacking legal short answer yes it is as long as you're testing systems that you own or have permission to test see initially it was actually very difficult for me to tell people that i am a hacker without getting a strange look from them as if i've done something wrong or i'm a criminal then i changed that and i started saying i'm a pen tester or a penetration tester which even confused them even more on what i do so that made me switch to saying that iam an ethical hacker and this is where i get really triggered because they'll be like what's ethical about hacking as if i just killed someone well hacking is just a skill it's just like any other skill that you can go and learn like painting or martial arts learning hacking practicing hacking and
even working as a hacker is not a crime it does not make you a criminal as long as you're not committing any crimes while you're learning or practicing hacking again this goes for any other skill so let's take martial arts for example you can literally walk into any gym and register and sign up to learn these martial arts and then you can go to an advanced level you can practice these martial arts with other people and you can compete and you can go on a global level where countries compete with each other and sometimes in these competitions people get permanently paralyzed and even die from practicing or competing martial arts now that is legal because when you go to these gyms and practice and learn martial arts you're not breaking any laws and when you spar and when you practice with another person the other person is giving you consent is giving you permission to hit them and then again when you compete you the both athletes give each other permission to hit each other and maybe even permanently damage each other like we said so when you say you're a martial artist people will never associate that with you being a criminal even though you could potentially kill people and you might actually do it if you're competing and things go out of control now hacking is just a skill similar to martial arts so if you go and learn hacking and practice it without committing any crime so you can practice hacking on your own systems if i own a computer i can do whatever i want to this computer it's my computer i can literally go ahead and set it on fire right now and i would not be committing any crimes because it is my computer and i can do whatever i want with it same if my friend adrian comes in and asks me to set his computer on fire i can set it on fire without committing any crimes because he's asking me to do so so you can go ahead and learn hacking and you're not breaking any laws with that because it's just a skill similar to you learning martial arts you can also go and practice hacking against your own computers because they're your own computers and you can do whatever you want to them and you can even hack into other computers and other systems that you do not own as long as the owners of these systems give you permission to hack and there is a big market in there lots of people work as ethical hackers or pen testers where they get hired to test the security of companies so that they can tell the companies the weaknesses and the companies will secure their systems now there's actually lots of ways to make money hacking legally and i've actually made a video on that so you'll have a card now on top or you can check the description for that video but the main idea is hacking is just a skill just like any other skill that you can learn you can use it for good or you can use it for bad but learning it practicing it and even working in it is not illegal as long as you're not committing any crimes while you're learning or practicing it it's literally as simple as that so don't be afraid of saying that you're a hacker it's not illegal it's actually pretty cool and you're awesome if you're a hacker don't say that you're a red teamer or you're a pentester actually sounds kind of lame we are hackers we're not breaking any laws by being hackers we like it we enjoy it and we're gonna do it legally i hope this clears up any doubts that you have as usual like the post if you enjoy the content don't forget to subscribe to the channel to stay updated with the latest that we upload use the links in the description to sign up to our vip community like i said i'm going live on monday we're going to be discussing anything and everything related to hacking and cyber security have a great day and see you there you .
